Shon Flanary Racing took their #98 Open Wheel Modified to Volunteer Speedway in Bulls Gap, Tennessee and Brushcreek Motorsports Complex in Peebles, Ohio on November 3-4 for a pair of weekend events. On Saturday night at "The Gap," Shon Flanary laid down the quickest lap overall during the qualifying session and later slipped back to third in the 20-lap main event to finish behind only $700 winner Wade Rookard and runner-up Kelly Riggs. At Brushcreek in an $800 to win Sunday show, Shon knocked down the fastest lap in his group during time trials, but broke in doing so. The mechanical problems and the rough racing surface caused the Surgoinsville, Tennessee ace to scratch from the feature event. Shon Flanary and his #98 Open Wheel Modified team invaded 411 Motor Speedway in Seymour, Tennessee on Saturday evening, October 27 for a 'Trunk or Treat' event, which featured a weekly show for the Modified division. Shon laid down the seventh fastest time overall during the qualifying session and later started the $500 to win main event from the inside of the fourth row. The Surgoinsville, Tennessee ace was then able to blast past five competitors at the Volunteer State oval to secure a strong runner-up effort behind only feature winner Jesse Rupe. The Shon Flanary Racing team enjoyed a strong weekend from October 18-21 in the states of Ohio and Tennessee! In the annual 'Dirt Track World Championship' at Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, Ohio, Shon Flanary knocked down the quickest lap in his group during the qualifying session on Thursday night prior to scoring the heat race triumph. On Saturday evening in the $4,000 to win Open Wheel Modified special, Shon started the race from the outside of the front row and eventually secured a strong fourth place effort behind only victor KC Burdette, Jesse Wisecarver, and Nathan Loney. At Volunteer Speedway in Bulls Gap, Tennessee on Sunday afternoon, Shon earned Fast Time honors during qualifying prior to winding up third in the final finishing order of the $500 to win weekly main event. A doubleheader weekend greeted the #98 team on October 5-6 at Lake Cumberland Speedway in Burnside, Kentucky. On Friday night in a $1,200 to win weekly show, Shon Flanary timed in fourth quickest overall during qualifying, broke in his heat race, and later battled back to land on the podium in the third spot of the main event. In the annual 'Lake Cumberland Classic' on Saturday evening, the Brucebilt Performance Iron-Man Modified Series sanctioned a $2,000 to win program. Shon knocked down the quickest lap during qualifying to earn Fast Time honors and later placed second in his heat race and fourth in the 20-lap headliner. Shon Flanary and his #98 Open Wheel Modified team invaded Lake Cumberland Speedway in Burnside, Kentucky and 411 Motor Speedway in Seymour, Tennessee over the September 14-15 weekend. On Friday night in a $1,000 to win special in the Commonwealth of Kentucky, Shon timed in second quickest in qualifying, ran second in his heat race, and later placed fifth in the A-Main behind only victor Peyton Harlow, Victor Lee, Ricky Arms, and Ben Petrey. At 411 in a $500 to win weekly show on Saturday evening, Shon knocked down the fastest lap overall in time trials, but a wreck in the main event dropped the Surgoinsville, Tennessee native to an eighth place showing. The Shon Flanary Racing team rolled north to Lawrenceburg Speedway in Lawrenceburg, Indiana on Saturday evening, July 7 for the annual running of the 'Merrill Downey Memorial.' The Open Wheel Modified special at the pristine Hoosier State facility boasted a $4,444 winner's check. Shon Flanary posted the fifteenth quickest time in his group during qualifying and later ran fifth in his loaded heat race. Shon then placed third in his B-Main, which was unfortunately one mere spot away from a coveted transfer position into the 44-lap headliner.
